Daddy's Girl.....

We haven't seen sweet girl smile a lot yet....she has been pretty serious! I think it is hard being one....she has to be feeling so confused. We think she's worried we are going to leave her. Literally, when I say she won't let us put her down....that is no joke. She loves to snuggle non-stop.

But, do you know what she loves more than anything right now?? HER DADDY!! These pics of her smiling is when he started singing and dancing, "Turn on the lights, it is daytime" (in a broadway style). She LOVES it when he sings and dances!! So, all of Chris's craziness is coming in very handy. He loves her so much. She is definitely a daddy's girl already.

Love you all,
Lindsey

P.S. Her lungs sound really raspy again today...if it sounds like this tomorrow, we will hopefully get her to a doctor. It really kind of sounds like asthma (not sure though). Keep praying! Thanks for your continued comments....I read every single one and can't wait to respond to each of them soon. I love you all.

Oh, and she slept great last night....I didn't, but that's okay. I checked on her about a thousand times. :-)

Lindsey,

I am literally stalking your blog for the next big update.

I also just wanted to let you know that her being clingy/not wanting to be put down is totally normal! She IS afraid you guys are leaving her again, so I think it's good that you both are indulging her in this very important need.

So good to see the pics of her w/ her mommy & daddy & she is, indeed, beautiful!!!

Continuing to pray for her full recovery!!!!

Psalm 34

"1 [a] I will extol the LORD at all times;
his praise will always be on my lips.
2 My soul will boast in the LORD;
let the afflicted hear and rejoice.

3 Glorify the LORD with me;
let us exalt his name together.

4 I sought the LORD, and he answered me;
he delivered me from all my fears.

5 Those who look to him are radiant;
their faces are never covered with shame.

6 This poor man called, and the LORD heard him;
he saved him out of all his troubles.

7 The angel of the LORD encamps around those who fear him,
and he delivers them.

8 Taste and see that the LORD is good;
blessed is the man who takes refuge in him.

9 Fear the LORD, you his saints,
for those who fear him lack nothing.

10 The lions may grow weak and hungry,
but those who seek the LORD lack no good thing.

11 Come, my children, listen to me;
I will teach you the fear of the LORD.

12 Whoever of you loves life
and desires to see many good days,

13 keep your tongue from evil
and your lips from speaking lies.

14 Turn from evil and do good;
seek peace and pursue it.

15 The eyes of the LORD are on the righteous
and his ears are attentive to their cry;

16 the face of the LORD is against those who do evil,
to cut off the memory of them from the earth.

17 The righteous cry out, and the LORD hears them;
he delivers them from all their troubles.

18 The LORD is close to the brokenhearted
and saves those who are crushed in spirit.

19 A righteous man may have many troubles,
but the LORD delivers him from them all;

20 he protects all his bones,
not one of them will be broken.

21 Evil will slay the wicked;
the foes of the righteous will be condemned.

22 The LORD redeems his servants;
no one will be condemned who takes refuge in him."

Sorry for the long comment, but it all seemed too good, if you know what I mean!

Lindsay and Chris,
Eliana is beautiful! I prayed hard Friday night when I saw your blog. I am so in awe of God's mercy in all of this. The story God is weaving in your family is going to be a powerful testimony, reaching much farther than you can imagine right now. May His grace, strength, peace and joy fill all three of you now and in the coming days, weeks and months.

Hey Lindsey!

Just a thought:

Sofia was NEVER exposed to air conditioning and also had asthma-like symptoms in the hotel room. (Not sure if Eliana has the same thing....)

We didn't run the AC very much and she cleared right up. We also spent lots of time OUTSIDE by the pool, etc

Hope she sounds better soon!

I hope she is feeling better soon!!! I am praying for you guys!

Shiloh was the exact same way when we got her, not letting us put her down for a second. It is such a nice bonding time early on because all you want to do is cuddle with them anyways. Believe me she will be on the go soon enough!

I am so happy she is safe in both your arms. What an incredibly scary thing to have to go through. My prayers are still with all of you especially that beautiful little girl for a speedy recovery. I hope the raspiness goes away and its just some weird fluke. So glad she is in your arms forever!

Lindsey, definitely take her to the Doctor. However, dont worry too much. Its very common for children to sound "raspy" when having colds or coughs. If she's sleeping, than she's not grasping for air. It's never easy when your little one is sick. Our DD was also sick when we picked her up and was also very snuggly that first week. In the days to come, you will see a completely different child come to life. Calumniation of being sick and having her environment and care takers change. It's evident though that God has already placed you in her heart and mind and this "snuggle" time is so great for bonding. Live it up and know that all will be well. Hugs, Susie

Lindsey,
IF you find you need a Dr. this week, you might try to find Dr. Sydney Hagen at the US Embassy. HE IS WONDERFUL!! He was US trained and speaks perfect English.

Last year when my Florida placing agency refused a medical evaluation on Emily Belle, I had to fly to Guatemala and find a Dr. to see her myself! He was such a nice man, and did a great job for us. I am sure you can locate him through the embassy, or I will try to help you get a number if you need it.

I am so glad things are going better for her now. Our family has not stopped praying and we will continue until she is safe and sound at HOME with you both...we pray that is soon, soon!

take care,
Betsy

Now that is a beautiful smile!! I am just thrilled to see it beyond words to see it! I am sure that you all must be exhausted, it is so difficult to sleep when your child is ill. Make sure that you follow your mommy/daddy instincts and get help from a doctor if you feel she needs it. Your intuition will always be right. We brought Joey home at 14 mo. and I can remember that it took him alittle while to smile; I guess he had to sort things out alittle bit first. Now he is the biggest ball of giggles!
Biggest virtual hugs,

I am so glad that she is WITH HER PARENTS FOREVER!!! Can you believe those words?? God is so amazing, he gives us gifts that we could never deserve. I don't know either of you and maybe it's only because you are from my home away from home (Franklin) but I feel as though you are my friends and neighbors and I am so thankful that your family is whole. I pray that Eliana will get stronger and stronger each day.

I can sympathize with checking on her a thousand times. After Dmitry's heart surgery he slept in my room for a month just so I could hear him breathe.

Love and Prayers to the three of you.

Praying that Eliana's little body will be healed of any illness and that you both will get some much needed rest.

I am so glad that you will be with her from here on out, she needs you guys!!

Tricia has a good point, while were were in Guat city, alot of babies at the hotel had asthma like symptoms, they turned off the air and the babies felt much better.

I am happy to see her big smile!! Daddy must be funny:-) I hope her lungs clear a little by tomorrow...you guys are great parents!!

Terry said...

I can't tell you how happy I am to hear that she is out of the hospital and with you forever!

While Tommy was still in Guat, he sounded very raspy much of the time and seemed to have horrible allergies, too. It always sounded like he had something in his lungs even though the doctor didn't think there was a problem. Two weeks after we got home, the sound went away and he's been fine ever since. I'm not saying that you shouldn't check in to it, but there is certainly a lot of stuff in the air over there that isn't good for our babies lungs.

Welcome to sleepless or semi sleepless nights for the rest of your life! It is SO SO worth it though! Your life is forever changed for the better with that baby girl in it!

I agree with Tricia about the possibility of the AC contributing! I hope you are able to get her checked out with a US doctor if she is still raspy tomorrow.

Big hugs!!

I know that Eliana has been sick, but wanted you to know Malaena-Sloan was sick on my visit in Feb. and STILL sick when I picked her up in April. Sometimes, she still sounds wheezy but the doc says it's all good. He said as long as she is thriving, don't worry. In their little bodies the noises are much more noticeable. I hope and pray you can just be in the moment. I know you didn't plan on getting her this way, but these first few days are amazing. After 2 months, each day is still amazing with our baby girl! Enjoy! cheri

Can understand why you're both not getting much sleep wanting to watch her every move. Its just wonderful that you are all there together as a family.

She'll feel your love and acceptance for her so much I'm sure, and that has got to be a good thing for her too!!

Take care and thanks for the updates...I have been checking LOTS to see how you're all doing.
