I have been blessed following your blog. I wish you all the best in moving to Guatemala to care for your little girl. Hope you can bring her home really soon, she's adorable! ~Juanita, Mom of 2 precious children born in Guatemala :)
these are amazing news, Lindsey!!! i am so so excited for you!
also, what's left on the process before she can come home? I'm not very familiar with the process so all I know each time you talk about certain phase is that she's one step closer to coming home with you.
HOW EXCITING! I can't wait to hear that you guys are ready to come home for good, but it will be such a blessing for you to be there with her all the time between now and then.
Lindsay, I read your blog all the time but have never posted. I have been in Guat since January fostering our daughter. I was in Antigua until 2 weeks ago but now live in Guatemala City. I am so happy for you and Eliana that you are coming! It will be so good for her to finally be with you (and you with her). A friend and I started a blog to help other families fostering in Antigua (we haven't finished it yet, though). You might find some helpful info, it's www.adoptiveparentsinantigua. blogspot.com.
You may have already read up on the subject, but in case you haven't, I would really recommend "Becoming a Family, promoting healthy attachments with your adopted child." by Lark Eshleman. When I arrived my daugher was 15 months old, and it was a long, hard journey toward attachment. In fact, things just now seem to be solidifying, after 6months of very intentional effort (nobody else holding her or feeding her, not leaving her, etc.) Of course, every child is different and it also depends on the care they received before coming to you, but it's good to be prepared.
I don't know you but feel like I do on some level from reading your blog. I am SO glad you are able to come here with Eliana. I can imagine you are so excited you are about to jump out of your skin!
Savor and enjoy every minute of it. It's such a unique opportunity to get this one-on-one time with here without all the distractions of "real life" back home. Blessings, Holli
Yipee!!! I am SO happy for you! this is the very best news and exactly what you all need especially right now. Eliana will LOVE having her Momma there with her every day and Antigua is such a beautiful palce!!! Hugs and Congratulations! Lee Anne
Yeah roomie or should I say roomies!!! We are going to have sooo much fun!!! I just stocked up on my Gerber Graduate breakfast bars and snacks and they are packed and ready to go!!! Okay now get back to packing--the wait is going to go by so quickly!!! Love you~Deanna
I have been reading your blog for a long time, and have only posted once. You will be in our prayers as your begin this awesome adventure....keep us posted! :)
I would say that qualifies as "HUGE" news!!!!! You have had quit a few experiences lately that have shown you how sweet, precious and short life is. Good for you Lindsay, so happy to hear God has provided the way. The experience of a life time, what a gift to you and Eliana. God is good, all the time. Blessings, Susie
Congratulations! You are so fortunate to be able to do this. We fostered our daughter and it was the BEST experience for us and the BEST thing for her. It really made her transition in the States A LOT easier. I am so excited for you! What GREAT news.
Just found your blog via Elle Dubb today. I need MORE time to catch up on your story but so far....love it. My husband and I have HUGE hearts for Guatemala and the people, esp. orphans. My husband works for an International Missions Org. that focusses on orphans (including adoptions). He travels there 5-6 times a year. I get to go once a year. Can't wait to read the rest of your story...
That's great news! I can't wait to read more on your blog and see lots of pictures of Antigua. I loved being there with Miranda and the boys, even though we were only there for 2 1/2 weeks.
HEY! I have a new blog address... If you put it on your blog roll, list us as the A-Team... We are trying to be a little more ambiguous with personal information.

You don't know me, but I have followed your blog for a while now. Our adoption agency had posted Elle Dubb on their blog and I have followed your story ever since. My husband and I went to visit our two daughters Christmas of 2006, he returned home and I just couldn't. I was fortunate enough to be able to stay and foster until the end of both adoptions. We just celebrated being home for 1 year! It was hard being away from my husband, but we both knew it was the right thing for our family. The transition home was so much easier than we could have dreamed. Enjoy your time. It truly is a blessing to have this time with your sweet girl all to yourself.
Oh, Lindsey, that's awesome!!! I'll be forever grateful for the time I had living in Antigua while I was fostering Bella. Enjoy every moment of it! I'm SO GLAD that you will be there to support our dear friend Melissa. Please hug her EVERY SINGLE DAY for us!

Get to packing, and don't forget the essentials like Baby Benadryl in the event she won't sleep every night!ha! Cheri

Lindsey - I am so happy for you I am crying! May His peace and protection follow you. AND if you're still there when I go we are definitely getting together!
We have only been married 6 years, but this one thing we know...we want our lives to make a difference for the Kingdom of God in the country of Guatemala. We love so many of this country's precious children, and by the grace of God we were given the incredible gift of adopting one of them! Her name is Eliana Hope Wheeler...and this is her story (along with our journey on the long road called adoption)! The story doesn't end here....God is calling us to more. Thank you for joining with us....for praying for us....and for loving these kids!! We are so grateful for each of you.
