Quick Update....

Sorry I haven't gotten to post until right now. We LOVED the doctor yesterday! He took such good care of sweet girl. To make a long story short....he said she suffers from hyper-sensitive bronchial tubes. He said that really anything can cause her to easily develop bronchitis...like change in weather, pollution, mold, etc.... So, basically, she suffers with bad allergies. He switched her meds and put her on an anti-histamine. She seems more alert and alive today!! She still has a gross cough and runny nose, but I am so thankful she is not so lethargic anymore. Keep praying for her little body. I know she has lost weight because she has thrown up anything she eats....and really isn't very hungry. We are on the mend though.

The passport place was an experience. I can't tell you how cute it was to see her little tiny face in a passport picture!! We are hopeful that we will be going to the city on Thursday for DNA and our embassy doctor's appointment....then we will wait for PINK.....I AM SO READY!!! Chris, get ready....I am going to sleep for a week when I get home. :-)

Love y'all,
Lindsey

I have been keeping up with your adoption for awhile, but have never commented. I am not sure how I found the blog, I think a link from another adoption blog, but anyway. I was just wondering if the doctors have mentioned the size of Eliana's tonsils? My son had many of the same symptoms as your daugther and was diagnosed with everything from upper resp. infections, asthma, apnea, etc. He still has asthma, but he is symptom free once we had his tonsils removed at the age of four. He was soooooo bad from 14 months until 4. Five medications and breathing treatments a day. Just a thought.

Does your house have mold? I the second time I lived in Antigua, the apartment had some mold in the bathroom, along the bottom of some walls, and in a wooden shelf. I guess the moisture and the concrete didn't mix?? That's just a thought you may want to watch out for.

Thanks for the update Lindsey and SO glad you were able to get some more help with poor Eliana's health. Will keep praying she can get some more strength and eat some more now.

And also praying things go quickly with the final stages for you to get home soon!!

Take care and God Bless,

Anna

I second the motion on the tonsils. My Chinese daughter had HUGE tonsils that were pinching her airway. She snored terribly and had sleep apnea. My niece suffered terribly with her tonsils and her sinuses blocked up and she couldn't hear out of her right ear and couldn't pronounce her "n"s and she's 13. She finally had them out and is completely normal.

Just another suggestion, since I suffer from allergies as well... when you get home and settled, have her allergy tested; to see EXACTLY what she's allergic to; that way, you know what to stay away from (and yes, unfortunately, that could include your dog..just to prepare you guys for the worse case senario); but I'm so glad it's not pneumonia as well.

Praying for a "quick pink".

Praise the Lord that Eliana is doing better! She is a very sweet and precious gift from our Father. I will be praying that you get home soon. Her allergies should be much better here! It was truly a blessing to meet you and Eliana. x Keeping you both in our prayers!

Whew...I'm so glad that you have some clarity on what has been causing her to be so sick. I am so there with you...we went through a similar thing with Nyah's asthma too. (and Matt was traveling through some of that rough coughing phase, so I know about doing it on your own!)
Your post reminded me...I'm sure you'll have lots of help when you get back, and we'd love to be added to that list of help too. Meals, errands, whatever. I'm sure you'll just want time with the three of you, so any way we can make that happen more easily, let us know.
We'll miss you this Thursday...its our first community group. You'll be with us soon, hang in there!
Love,
Amy

Hey, I will be in Guatemala on the 20th of September with Erin and Becca. Is there anything you need from the states that I can bring you (besides Chris)?
